Jacky Pullman -- Artist in Residence

  • The Roasted Granola 1346 Massachusetts Avenue Arlington, MA, 02476 United States (map)

Jacky Pullman is a local Arlington artist who spent her first career teaching English in Boston and now she paints full time. She started painting as a teenager and has continued on and off most of her life. Her medium is mostly acrylics, with occasional forays into soft pastels, charcoal and oil. She paints mostly in acrylic now and prefers the wood cradle board as her substrate. You may notice pops of red peaking through many of her pieces as she often likes to paint on a red background. Jacky likes to search for interesting frames in thrift stores, which will sometimes influence the size or theme of her work. She draws much inspiration from nature and landscapes during her trips to Latin America.

The theme of this exhibit, as you will notice, is mostly flowers and plants. “The Earth laughs in flowers” is a line from a Ralph Waldo Emerson poem (Hamatreya). It is his take on the arrogance of humans who think they can rule the Earth.
